ABOUT THE BOOK

Considering the problem in writing, reading and understanding the scientific articles and subjects in Hindi language, due to non-availability of appropriate Hindi meaning of scientific words, 'A Comprehensive Scientific Dictionary' has been prepared with hard work of about twenty years. It contains more than fifty thousand words belonging to
different science subjects after consulting seventeen national and international dictionaries.

This scientific dictionary will be very useful for science students, teachers, research scholars in colleges and universities along with scientists, researchers in scientific organizations.
This may also be helpful to readers, writers and reviewers of scientific research papers, articles and monographs. Latest relevant scientific words have been incorporated in this dictionary with their appropriate Hindi meaning except the international scientific names or units, which have transcripted in Devnagiri as it is. The specificity of this dictionary is that Hindi meaning of several new words have been coined on basis of their origin / definition and many words have been explained along with their word meaning. This dictionary contains an additional section in the last with Hindi meaning of International Standard Units for measurements from authentic sources. Finally, suggestions and views are requested from readers to improve the next edition of this dictionary.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Dr. Satya Prakash Pathak, author of this book, is Former Principal Scientist in Indian Institute of Toxicology Research, Lucknow, a constituent national laboratory of Council of Scientific and Industrial Research, Government of India at New Delhi. He was born on 20 July, 1953 in village Rauzagaon of district Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh, India. He
passed B.Sc., M.Sc. (Zoology), Ph. D. and LL.B. from University of Lucknow, Lucknow. He joined Indian Institute of Toxicology Research, Lucknow in April 1978 and retired in July 2013. During this period he has published 50 research papers in reputed national and international scientific journals. He has written two books, seven book chapters and twelve popular Hindi articles. He has contributed in development of seven patents of technologies.

His area of special interest is aquatic microbiology, particularly bacteriological analysis and development of disinfect ion techniques and technologies. He has also contributed in
nationwide quality surveil lance programme in thirteen states of India along with human resource developmen through lectures, seminars, training and workshops for safe drinking water.
