ABOUT THE BOOK

Higher Education has a major role in rebuilding a nation. It plays a vital role in the overall national development. The twentieth century has witnessed several revolutions like the Green revolution, White revolution and I.T. revolution, scientific revolution which has made human civilization to reach new heights. This volume publishes cutting edge research and discourse addressing contemporary themes in higher education of wide international relevance. The series examines all aspects of the international higher education research agenda from strategic policy formulation and impact to pragmatic advice on best practice in the field.


As we know that higher education plays an important role in the society as well as in the life of the individual and elite section of the society come out from the system of higher education. The author has analysed and discussed about the development and problems of higher education of our country in brief. In this volume discusses the philosophy, the legacy, the crisis in HE and the efforts to overcome them. It reviews all the main reports of all the commissions and committees appointed to form HE policy and to reform the system in the context of globalization of HE. The book is clear in views, highly informative in its contents, lucid in its style and a recent comprehensive statement with clear 'perceptions' and 'perspectives' of the HE in India in the present day. It is a critique of Indian HE in the context of national development and global knowledge society. This book is informative as it provides and discusses most of the central issues facing India's higher education establishment, the immense challenge of funding the massive system in ways that can provide quality and access, regulation and quality assurance, workforce development, the role of research and others issues related to HE.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Dr G. Kamalakar, Researcher, MA., B.Ed., LLM, Ph.D. SET. He was awarded Doctorate from the Department of Political Science, Osmania University Hyderabad, on “WTO and GATS Implication for the Indian Higher Education”. He has achieved RGNF Fellowship, from New Delhi and Pre-Doctoral Fellowship from OUCIP. He has also worked as a Degree College lecturer at City College, Hyderabad and also worked as a counselor at Ambedkar Open University for 8 years. He has written 3 books and has 4 edited books and also published 19 articles in UGC care list Journals. To his credit he has done 12 Book Reviews in UGC care list and sage publication. He has received 7 awards of them are Amazing Grace Award, Pride India Award, Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Excellency Award, International Research Excellence Award, Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Life Time Achievement National Award, National best Teacher Award and Vidya Bharati Award. He has presented research papers in more than 28 National & International Conferences. He has published 32 National and 26 International Level Peer Reviewed / Refereed Research Journal. He is Assistant Editor of International journal and a Member of Editorial board & Reviewer for National and International journals for nearly 38 Journals of 20 countries like USA, Turkey, Syria, UK , Pak , China and India etc. and has memberships in 5 various associations.

Dr Rupavath Chandru, M.A, M.Phil, PhD, presently working as an Associate Professor, Department of Political Science, Chairman Board of Studies Osmania University Hyderabad, India and has 33 years of Experience. To his credit he has published 2 books National and International publication. He has presented papers in Conferences and seminars, and has published research papers in National & International level UGC care Journals. To his credit he has bagged National and International Award like Pride India Award, Dalita Rathna, Girija Ratna, Banjara Rathna, Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Awards, Bharat Gaurav and Indo-HongKong friendship Award and he was selected by Holyspirit Christian Association, HSC University, United State of America and nominated his name for Prestigious Honorary Doctorate Award in Social Services for his contribution to the society. Lastly he believes that without helping others, life is meaningless and even today he visits welfare hostels every month to provide charity to poor students and helped many of his villagers in all aspects including mentoring the students, financial assistance and other needful services.
